One thing that you will need to do before you start school ... open your Checking Account and ATM Card during the summer, or anytime well before the school year starts. You can open your account, put your parents address on the checks and your set. You'll get checks you can use and an ATM card. You'll be needing these right away. Then when you find out where you'll be living, you can change your address on your account. The last thing you want to do is put this off until the first day of school. It takes about two weeks to get everything printed and mailed, so do it early!
You should see all the new students who gave it no thought whatsoever! They're scrambling around, trying the cash the 'rents check. Planning is the key in school and with personal finances.
