Using Fone-Teller is easy

Fone-Teller can be operated from any touch-tone telephone (pulse-tone telephones will not operate Fone-Teller). Call Fone-Teller at (310) 473-2609.

Fone-Teller allows you access to your UCU account to:

  • Verify paid checks
  • Verify current account balance
  • Transfer funds from Share (Savings) Account to Checking Account, or vice versa
  • Transfer Loan Payments
  • Conduct various other transactions
  • Verify Deposits

To conduct Fone-Teller inquiries and transactions on your UCU account you need your UCU Account Number and eBanking Personal Identification Number (PIN). There is no charge for the Fone-Teller service or to obtain an eBanking PIN. Request yours by ordering a PIN on line or calling a Member Service Representative at (310) 477-6628, during regular business hours.

Fone-Teller will say "transaction complete" when any transfer or withdrawal has been completed. In many cases, Fone-Teller requires you to enter the "#" key, usually at the lower right corner of your telephone key pad, to complete certain questions.

Fone-Teller shortcuts...

  • Once you are familiar with the Fone-Teller instructions, you can interrupt the vocal instructions by entering the codes immediately.
  • For quick access to your account balances, enter "1" as soon as Fone-Teller answers your call.
  • When obtaining account balance, after you enter your UCU Account Number and eBannking PIN, Fone-Teller will immediately give you your Share (Savings) Account balance and, if applicable, your Checking Account Balance.
  • To back-up to a previous menu at any time, enter the * key.

Please note ... when inquiring about the available balance in your share accounts:

  • Your regular share account balance will be quoted with your actual balance less the minimum required balance of $5.
  • Your Market Rate account balance will be quoted with your actual balance less the minimum required balance of $2500.
  • If you have pledged your shares as collateral for a loan, your share balance will be quoted less the pledged amount.
  • If there are any temporary holds placed on checks deposited to your share account(s), your balance will be quoted less the deposit amount.
  • Federal regulations limits up to six preauthorized or automatic withdrawals, telephone transfers, or transfers initiated by personal computer to another account at the same credit union or to a third party during a calendar month. No more than three of these six transfers can be made by check, debit card or similar order and payable to third parties.

    Not counted against this six monthly transfer limit are those transfers that the member makes in person, at an ATM, by mail, by messenger or by a telephone call that results in a check being mailed to the member.


Overview of the Information available on UCU Fone-Teller

Step 1 Call UCU Fone-Teller at (310) 473-2609
Step 2 Enter a code for the information you want to obtain:

Press 1 for Account Access -- Access to your accounts and to the Loan Calculation System. Enter Account Number and PIN, followed by the pound (#) sign. Click here for flow chart of options in this section.

Press 2 for Rates -- Loan, Share Certificate and Share Account Rate Information. Does not require an eBanking PIN.

Press 3 for UCU Information -- Credit Union hours, location information and holiday schedule. Does not require an eBanking PIN.

Step 3 If you pressed 1, you will continue to the next options for obtaining account information

If you pressed 2 or 3, you can access this information by pressing the appropriate sections as prompted. To listen to information in Option 1, press * back up to another selection (options 1, 2 or 3)

Account Access Choices

The following explains the options provided after pressing 1 (Account Access):

1 -- Inquiries. Includes balances, recent transactions, loan payment information, payroll deposit information and dividends

*Note: Options 2-4 above ask similar questions as Option #1 (as shown below)



Checking Questions

1. Account Inquiry -- Get your balance and transaction information, including deposits, withdrawals or all transactions made, including ATM, POS (Point of Sale), Fone-Teller and branch withdrawals

2. Transactions -- make transfers or payments to another UCU account you own, or request a check be mailed to your address.

3. Loan Payment Calculator

4. Change Personal Identification Number (PIN)

Loan Calculator - Use this Account Rates feature to determine estimated loan payments based on the amount of money borrowed, length of repayment term, and rate. Or, enter a sample payment amount, rate and term to see how much you can afford to borrow.
