Irvine, California – Big West Conference Commissioner Dan Butterly announced today that University Credit Union will join as an official credit union and financial services partner. The partnership with University Credit Union (UCU) was arranged by Van Wagner who manages the Big West’s sponsorship and marketing partners program.

“This is an important partnership that underpins the value of athletics and collegiate institutions in California and Hawaii,” Commissioner Butterly said. “We need the support of corporate partners like University Credit Union to bring representation of the University of California and the California State University systems to the NCAA.”

University Credit Union is a purpose-driven financial cooperative dedicated to giving the students, alumni, staff, and faculty of university communities a financial advantage. UCU traces its roots back to 1951, when the credit union was founded on UCLA’s campus. It has since spread exponentially to many collegiate institutions across the state, including all eleven Big West Conference member institutions.

“For 70 years, UCU has always been dedicated to exclusively supporting university communities,” said Dr. David Tuyo, University Credit Union President and CEO. “This partnership is further representation of our dedication to ensuring that every partner university of the Big West Conference has access to the unparalleled value and benefits that UCU offers.”

As part of their partnership, UCU will be incorporated into marketing and promotional efforts year-round, including this year’s Air Force Reserve Big West Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championship presented by The Hawaiian Islands, played March 9-13, 2021 at Michelob ULTRA Arena at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.
