Make sure your Checking Account payments go through in the event you run short on funds. A variety of overdraft protection options help prevent items from being returned unpaid, which can save you the inconvenience, embarrassment and added expense of non-sufficient funds items. At University Credit Union, we offer three overdraft options to help you manage your money.
For greatest flexibility and cost savings, you can designate the order of accessing funds to pay for overdrawn transactions. Choose the order in which they are applied to minimize fees.
Savings to Checking Automatic Overdraft Transfer1
If your checking account is overdrawn, available funds from your savings account are automatically transferred to cover the overdraft (a transfer fee is assessed).
Overdraft Protection Line of Credit (LOC)
The Overdraft Protection Line of Credit Loan automatically advances funds to cover a check posting to your account, up to the pre-approved available credit limit. There is no transfer fee, but interest is charged only when you have a balance. Apply online now.
The Overdraft Privilege service can pay your checks and ACH items if you don’t have enough money in your account. It helps you avoid additional bounced-check or late payment fees on returned checks or drafts. This discretionary service will be added to your checking account if it qualifies.
Sign-Up for OPTIONAL ATM and Everyday Debit Transaction Coverage:
- Avoid the embarrassment of debit card denials at the cash register or ATM. Get added coverage on your account for ATM and everyday debit purchases to ensure your transactions are accepted. This service is not automatically included on your account, you must complete a sign-up request to add this feature.
These services are available to help you manage your account better. You can select the option (or options) that best fit your needs. You can change your protection at any time.
