Changes to International Wire Transfers

Due to the implementation of new International Wire regulations by the CFPB (Consumer Financial Protection Bureau) that will be effective on October 28, 2013, UCU will be making changes to the wire transfer requests for both Domestic and International wires. These changes will go into effect starting with wire requests made on October 25, 2013.

A few of the changes include: 1) A wire that contains any international financial institution and/or ends up in a non-USA financial institution account will be considered an “International Wire” and must follow the UCU International Wire Transfer instructions; 2) International Wires originated through UCU will ONLY be processed in person at a UCU branch (no verbal or fax International Wire Transfer requests will be available); and 3) Cut-off times have changed for the International Wire Transfers; contact a UCU representative well in advance of your International Wire Transfer request.
