Pay a Person (P2P)

P2P allows you to send money to friends, family, or anyone at all. It is a digital service available to UCU members through mobile and online banking that replaces the need for cash, downloading a separate payment app, and writing a check to pay a person. To use P2P, you must have an active checking account with UCU.

P2P is designed for payments made to individuals. The recipient of your payment can be anyone in the US that has either a checking or savings account at any credit union or bank; they do not need to be a member of UCU.

To access P2P, log into digital banking and select 'Make a Transfer' and then 'Pay a Person.'

• Email address: your contact will receive an email with instructions on how to direct the payment into their bank account.
• Mobile number: a text message will be sent to the recipient with instructions on how to direct the payment into their bank account.

P2P payments are electronic and can be sent real-time or via ACH (Automated Clearing House). Recipients can select how quickly they want to receive their payment.

When a payment is sent, both the sender and the recipient will be notified when it has been delivered. Payments can be scheduled to be delivered on a future date, as recurring payments, or as a one-time payment. When a payment is scheduled, a reminder notification will be sent to the recipient prompting them to claim their money. If the recipient does not claim the payment, both the sender and the recipient will be notified and the payment will be canceled and unable to be claimed. If this happens, the payment will need to be sent again.

There is no fee for UCU members to use P2P and recipients of payment will not have a fee if they elect to receive their funds via ACH. However, a $1 fee will be charged to the recipient if they elect to receive their funds in real-time. A  $1.01 minimum payment is required to send funds to a recipient.

You are able to send and receive funds to other UCU members in real-time using Member to Member(M2M) transfers. To use M2M, go to 'Make a Transfer' in digital banking and select 'Add a Member to Member Account.' The other UCU member can provide you their account number information or a 'M2M Code', which is a secret passphrase created by the other UCU member.

You can also create your own secret 'M2M Code' and provide it to the other UCU member, allowing them to send funds to your account.
